With a background in fashion and a master's degree in textile design, Bettie Boersma sees herself as a textile designer and a graphic artist. With a strong preference for crafts like screenprint, risograph, and working via collages she combines a graphic approach with a more tactile one, through textiles. Researching the boundaries between the different disciplines, she was invited to do an Artist in Residence program at the graphic art centre Frans Masereel in Kasterlee (BE). As a finalist for the Dorothy Waxman Textile Design Prize she exhibited in New York (Talking Textiles, Wanted Design) and Design Museum Ghent (Plain / Purl).
