Winning the Frans Masereel Award gave me the opportunity to work as an artist in residence at the graphic art centre in Kasterlee (BE). For ‘Surface and Space Matter’ I joined forces with graphic designer Jore Dierckx. We explored the possibilities of the photographic image, specifically on different surfaces and spatial content, textures and dimension. Reworking these elements to a condensed 3 layer screen print on paper, researching the tension between the abstract and the organic.
